On Distant Shores
All who read On Distant Shores by Sarah Sundin will be swept away with the romance of Lt. Taylor and her friend Hutch (a pharmacist) as they follow the leading of God’s spirit in their own life and those of like people in World War II, who sacrifice so much for us, and showing service in the military as people are servicing the almighty God. As they give up all their dreams and common life to service their Commander and Chief –the Almighty God.
Lt. Taylor, Hutch, the doctors and nurses come to life as they give their account of the war and the sacrifices of both the people service in the military and the civilian lives they touch. Following the lives of the doctors, nurses, enlisted men and those at home who continue to make God in charge in all ways. I loved the purity of the characters and their love for one another in war time. They overcame each obstacle as it comes their way and it makes them better people in the process. It shows that that we all have the same challenges in each and every day in this life God has given us. We all need one another. There is only on He who commands all and all have talents and as we push one another as He sees fit in our life. Our whole life becomes a romance of Jesus sacrifice and our obedience to his will. The same as Lt. Taylor and Hutch laid aside their own desires and it brought it everyone together in a great story of love, sacrifice and knowing the God is in charge.
